Self-Deliverance: Walking Free Through Knowledge, Faith, and the Word of God

Self-Deliverance: Walking Free Through Knowledge, Faith, and the Word of God

Teaching by Prophet Lovy L. Elias · Watch on YouTube · 9 August 2022

True deliverance is not waiting for God to act — it is activating what God has already declared.

Deliverance is not a single event confined to casting out demons. It is a multidimensional reality that encompasses spirit, soul, body, and circumstance. The path to wholeness requires knowledge of God's Word, a return to spiritual roots, and the courageous decision to believe what God has said over what fear, ignorance, or the enemy whispers daily.

Teaching Overview

  1. True deliverance is multidimensional — encompassing demons, flesh, people, and situations — and a believer can encounter Jesus without yet being made whole.
  2. Self-deliverance begins the moment a person comes into the knowledge of truth, because the devil occupies the place of ignorance.
  3. Belief is the activator of spiritual reality — God cannot give a person beyond what they believe, and faith works in both positive and negative directions.
  4. Fear is the opposite of love, and materialised fear functions as negative faith — what a person truly fears, they can bring into existence.
  5. Renewing the mind through God's Word is the path to knowing the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God — and the crisis in the Church is not a prayer problem but a belief problem.

The Difference Between Deliverance and Wholeness

  • Deliverance is not limited to demonic expulsion — it operates across many dimensions, levels, and realms, including deliverance from the flesh, from people, and from situations.
  • A person can encounter Jesus, receive a miracle, and still not be made whole — wholeness requires an additional act of return and continued engagement with Christ.
  • The ten lepers were cleansed of leprosy, but only the one who returned to give thanks was made whole — his healing extended to every facet of his life, not just his body.

"There is a difference between being delivered from a demon and being made whole."

"You can encounter Jesus and not have total healing. You can encounter Jesus and not have total deliverance."

"If your life is not whole, you need deliverance. You either need deliverance from demons, from the flesh, from people, from situations."

Self-Deliverance: The Application of Knowledge

  • Many believers wait for God to move, but God is waiting for the believer to act — true deliverance is the application of knowledge.
  • The devil does not dwell in hell sending assignments remotely — the devil occupies the specific place of a person's ignorance, and knowledge evicts him from that position.
  • David's self-deliverance in a moment of near-death came through encouraging himself — he stood, spoke to himself, and the knowledge that rose within him was what prevented him from being stoned.

"True deliverance is the application of knowledge."

"The biggest person that stops you from reaching where you're supposed to go is you."

"The devil stays in the place of your ignorance. The more you are ignorant about something, it simply means that the devil comes and sits in that position."

The Prodigal Son and Coming Back to Yourself

  • The prodigal son left home because of pride, but he returned because of knowledge — he came back to himself, which is the biblical model of self-deliverance from foolishness.
  • Returning to God is not the loss of freedom — it is the recovery of it, because it is God who makes a person to lie down in green pastures and leads them to still water.
  • Believers who flee from patterns without correcting the root issue encounter the same patterns in a different form — self-deliverance requires confronting what was not resolved, not escaping it.

"The moment you come to a place of knowledge, that's where self-deliverance begins."

"Some of you think your freedom is in greener pastures, but it is God who makes you to lay down in green pastures. Without Him there is no green pastures."

"If you're not thinking of going back to God, you cannot be self-delivered. It is impossible."

Belief as the Activator of Spiritual Reality

  • The activator of every spiritual thing in a believer's life is belief — God can show a person a possibility, but He cannot give beyond what they believe.
  • When Jesus ministered to people, He consistently asked, "Do you believe that I can?" — their belief was the conduit through which He could touch and bless them.
  • Knowledge made available to a person becomes the channel through which God moves — a person who does not believe in healing will, in almost every case, never experience it.

"The activator of your spiritual things is your belief."

"God can never give you beyond what you believe."

"When you make knowledge available, it becomes the channel in which God would touch you."

Fear as Materialised Negative Faith

  • Faith is not exclusively positive — whatever a person takes to heart with conviction, they materialise, whether it originates from God or from the enemy.
  • The woman who repeatedly confessed she was getting cancer materialised cancer — she took the devil's suggestion, gave it substance through belief, and transmitted it from the spirit realm into the physical.
  • Job's greatest fear was the loss of his children, and his fear-offerings made that fear visible in the spirit — the devil targeted precisely what Job had already spiritually materialised through dread.

"Faith is faith. Whatever I take to heart and I take seriously, it becomes reality."

"The devil always goes after what your greatest fear is because spiritually it can be seen."

"What I feared the most has come upon me."

Fear vs. Love — The Spiritual Opposite

  • The opposite of love is not hate — the opposite of love is fear, and perfect love casts out fear.
  • Fear is a direct expression of a lack of confidence in God's ability — a Christian who operates in fear is effectively declaring that their situation is bigger than God.
  • The quickest path to building faith is deliverance from personal fears, because it is the believer's own fears that keep them in bondage.

"The opposite of love is fear."

"Fear is a result of not having confidence in God's ability."

"The quickest way to build faith is to be delivered from your fears. Because your fears is what is keeping you bound."

The Source of Thoughts and the Power of Choice

  • No thought is spiritually independent — every thought originates either from the Spirit of God or from a demonic spirit, and there is no neutral origin.
  • God has set before every person two roads — life and death — and the only thing that truly belongs to a person is the choice of which road they take.
  • The problem in the Church today is not prayer, not trust, and not effort — it is the belief problem: people are more convinced by what the devil says than by what God has declared.

"Your thoughts are not independent of any spirit."

"The only thing that is independent is choice."

"The problem in the church is the belief problem. People are failing to believe God."

Renewing the Mind and the Will of God

  • Romans 12:1–2 reveals three levels of God's will — the good will, the acceptable will, and the perfect will — and each is only accessed through the renewing of the mind.
  • The perfect will of God is His spoken prophetic word of destiny over a person's life — what He has already declared — and the question is whether the person believes it.
  • God has already declared that His people are healed, blessed, and prosperous — the gap between that declaration and a person's experience is the gap of unbelief.

"God has already declared over your life: You are healed. You are blessed. You are prosperous."

"People have not yet mastered what God has said, but people are easily mastering what the devil is saying."

Key Definitions

Deliverance — Freedom from any form of bondage — demonic, fleshly, relational, or situational — operating across many dimensions, levels, and realms.

Wholeness — Complete restoration of every facet of a person's life; what Jesus produced in the leper who returned — going beyond deliverance from a specific thing to full restoration in spirit, body, family, and circumstance.

Self-Deliverance — The act of applying knowledge of God's truth to one's own life; the process by which a person evicts ignorance, confronts fear, encourages themselves in God, and activates their own freedom in Christ.

Prince of Darkness — The biblical title for Satan; "prince" meaning the first, and "darkness" meaning ignorance — Satan is the first one to have chosen ignorance, and he operates wherever ignorance is present.

Faith — The substance of conviction that materialises spiritual realities into the physical; a force that operates in both positive and negative directions depending on what a person truly believes.

The Perfect Will of God — God's spoken prophetic word of destiny over a person's life — His specific declaration of who they are and what He has purposed for them, accessed only through a renewed mind.

Key Takeaways

  • Deliverance is multidimensional, not merely demonic — understanding that wholeness requires more than a single encounter with Jesus protects believers from settling for partial freedom.
  • The devil occupies the place of ignorance — every area of a believer's life where knowledge of God's Word is absent is an open territory for the enemy to operate.
  • Belief is the activator of all spiritual reality — because faith works in both positive and negative directions, what a person truly believes — whether God's Word or the enemy's suggestion — will materialise.
  • Fear is the opposite of love and functions as negative faith — being delivered from personal fears is not a minor matter; it is the gateway to building genuine, active faith in God.
  • The crisis in the Church is the belief problem — God has already declared healing, blessing, and prosperity over His people; the gap between declaration and experience is closed only through renewing the mind and choosing to believe what God has said.

Reflection Questions

  1. In which area of your life are you still waiting for God to move — and is it possible that God is waiting for you to apply the knowledge you already have?
  2. What specific fear have you been carrying that you have never fully surrendered to God — and what might happen if you allowed that fear to continue materialising?
  3. Are you more familiar with what the devil has said about your life than with what God has declared? What would it look like to reverse that ratio this week?
  4. When you encounter a painful pattern repeating in your life, is your first instinct to escape it or to identify its root? What does this teaching challenge you to do differently?
  5. God has declared that you are healed, blessed, and prosperous. What is the gap between that declaration and your daily experience — and what specific act of belief is being required of you right now?
