The Last Laugh: God's Unconditional Love, the Purpose of Weakness, and the Promise That Stands
Despite your failures, your flesh, and your doubts, God chose you knowing everything — and He has ordained that you will have the last laugh.
There is a new chapter being opened for you. God has not disqualified you because of your weakness, your mistakes, or the war raging between your flesh and your spirit. He knew all of it before He chose you — and He chose you anyway. Understanding this truth is the key to turning the page into everything God has called you to.
Teaching Overview
- God has what is called unconditional love. Meaning in God when He says He loves you, He removes all conditions in the place.
- God chose you knowing every single thing about you — your coming in, your going out, and every mistake you would ever make — and still ordained you to have the last laugh.
- Everyone has a good side and a bad side; your weakness was not authored by the devil but ordained by God to keep you dependent on Him.
- Your mistakes are not disqualification — they lead to promotion when met with repentance and surrender.
- The work God requires is not the work of self-perfection but the work of surrender to the Holy Spirit, who perfects you in His time.
Key Distinctions
| Good Side (Spirit) | Bad Side (Flesh) | Prophets | Prophetic People | Holy Spirit as Experience | Holy Spirit as Feeling | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | The anointed inner man where the Holy Spirit has joined Himself to your spirit | The weak side from which mistakes and struggles regenerate | Those who carry divine authority to speak and impart | Those who carry words but without the full prophetic office | A transforming, tangible encounter that changes and elevates | An emotional response or impression |
| Where it operates | Heavenly realms — the spirit is seated in heavenly places with Christ | The physical realm — it lives in and responds to what is seen | Operate in declaration and impartation, not merely intercession | Operate primarily in confirmation and encouragement | Works deeply and permanently within the believer | Remains on the surface and passes |
| What it produces | Tongues, the anointing, and spiritual fruit | Doubt of God's promise, self-reliance, and internal struggle | Impartation of gifts and authority through laying on of hands | Words that confirm rather than contradict circumstances | Transformation, elevation, and the tangible presence of God | Emotions and temporary spiritual sensation |
| God's intention for it | The vehicle through which God's anointing flows | A reminder of dependence on God — ordained, not authored by Satan | To contradict circumstances and declare what God has already released in the spirit | To encourage the body but not to carry the full weight of prophetic authority | To be sought, received, and yielded to | To be discerned and not mistaken for genuine encounter |
You Are Not Your Body: The Two Sides of Every Believer
- Every believer has a good side — the anointed inner man where the Holy Spirit has joined Himself to the spirit, the source of tongues and anointing.
- Every believer also has a bad side — the weak side from which mistakes and struggles regenerate.
- God chose you knowing both sides existed, and His anointing rests on you despite the presence of both.
"You are not your body. You are not your body. There is another man living in you. Your body is simply a vehicle."
Unconditional Love and Divine Selection
- It is impossible to earn anything from God; God only accepts what He Himself has provided.
- God offered Himself — making Himself into flesh and offering Himself to Himself — so that He could forgive humanity without requiring human merit.
- When God decided to bless you and elevate you, it has nothing to do with you and everything to do with Him.
"God does not accept what you will provide. Because anything that you and me will give will be filthy to Him."
God's Sovereign Knowledge of You
- When God selected you, He already knew your coming in and your going out — the days of your life are numbered in His hands.
- God never needed counsel; He looked at you by Himself, for Himself, understood all your patterns, and still chose to anoint you.
- The Lord's hand is upon you not because of what you have done, but because of what He has done and what He will do through you.
"God has never needed counsel. God has never discussed with somebody concerning you. God looked at you by himself for himself and understood all your patterns."
The Purpose of Weakness
- Weakness was not authored by Satan — Satan can take advantage of weakness, but your weakness did not come from the devil.
- God ordained weakness as part of His sovereign design so that you would know your blessing and promotion have nothing to do with you.
- Even your mistakes are prophetic — God has never promoted a perfect person, but He promotes, restores, and elevates a repentant person.
"God has never promoted a perfect person, but God promotes, restores, elevates a repentant person."
The Prodigal Son: Mistakes That Lead to Promotion
- The father blessed his son knowing his weaknesses — and while the son was away, the father waited at the balcony, watching for his return.
- The son's mistakes opened his eyes to the mercy of his father — a side of the father the obedient son who never left home had never discovered.
- When the son returned in repentance, the father ran to him midway, removed the rags, put on the robe, and promoted him — his mistake became the pathway to co-heirship.
"Your mistake is leading to promotion."
Grace Where Sin Abounds
- Where sin abounds, grace abounds the more — your errors are not the end of the story.
- Paul prayed three times for his thorn to be removed and God answered not with deliverance but with sufficiency: "My grace is sufficient for you."
- Your errors are an open door for God's power to rest upon you and a reminder of your dependence on Him.
"Your errors are simply an open door for God to rest on you. They are a reminder of your need and your dependence on God."
No Condemnation and the Work of Surrender
- For those who are in Christ, there is no more condemnation — "working out your salvation" speaks to those already in Christ applying Kingdom principles, not to earning eternal life.
- Christ, not the believer, is the One who presents the church spotless and blameless before God — we cannot do the work of Jesus.
- The work God calls you to is not the work of self-perfection but the work of surrender.
"So you are spotless before God, not because of what you have done. We are trying to do the work of Jesus yet we can never do it. We can never come close to it. But the work with God is a work of surrender."
Adoption, Promise, and the Gift Without Repentance
- There is no such thing as unwanted adoption — anyone who adopts has made up their mind deliberately; God made up His mind and said, "I want you."
- Nothing can disqualify you from what God has appointed for you — the gift of God is without repentance.
- When you try to solve things on your own — as Sarah did with Hagar — you create more problems; God is still waiting for you to receive what He has already released in the spirit.
"God made up his mind, said, I want you. I don't care what you're going to do because I will use it for my glory."
Watch and Pray: Open-Eyed Prayer
- Prayer should be done with open eyes because God has called you as a watchman — "watch and pray" is the biblical instruction.
- You enter into temptation because your eyes are closed when you pray: you cannot see what the devil is proposing or the escape God has already provided.
- God does not need your fleshly strength — He only needs the willingness of your spirit, and that is enough to bring forth change in your life.
"Prayer should be done with eyes open because God called do as a watchman."
The Holy Spirit: Experience, Not Feeling
- The Holy Spirit is an experience, not a feeling — when you experience Him, He changes you, transforms you, and elevates you.
- Too many believers perform in church — holy on Sundays, a different person through the week — and this pretending blocks genuine deliverance.
- Your weakness is not going anywhere in this life; it is a reminder that you need God, and it will only be resolved when you leave this world.
"If more people stopped pretending in church, there would be much greater deliverance in church."
"The Holy Spirit is an experience, not a feeling. When you experience it, it changes you, transforms you, elevates you."
Key Definitions
Unconditional love — God's love that removes all conditions entirely; it is impossible to earn and impossible to forfeit through human failure because God only accepts what He Himself has provided.
Weak side (flesh) — The side of every person from which mistakes and struggles regenerate; ordained by God — not authored by Satan — as a reminder of human dependence on Him.
Good side (spirit / inner man) — The anointed dimension of the believer where the Holy Spirit has joined Himself to the human spirit; the source of tongues, anointing, and spiritual authority.
Prophet — One who carries divine authority to declare and impart — not merely to intercede or encourage — operating by declaration rather than petition, as distinguished from those who are simply prophetic people with words.
The Holy Spirit as experience — A tangible, transforming encounter with the person of the Holy Spirit that changes, elevates, and perfects the believer over time, as distinguished from an emotional feeling or momentary spiritual sensation.
Work of surrender — The only work God requires of the believer: releasing control, yielding to Jesus, and allowing the Holy Spirit to do the perfecting rather than attempting self-generated holiness.
Key Takeaways
- God's love is unconditional and His selection is sovereign — He chose you knowing every mistake you would ever make, which means no failure can undo what He has ordained for you.
- Your weakness was ordained by God, not authored by Satan — it exists to keep you dependent on Him, and understanding this prevents self-condemnation and self-sabotage.
- Repentance, not perfection, is the pathway to promotion — God has never elevated a perfect person, but He always restores, promotes, and elevates the repentant one.
- The work God requires is surrender, not self-improvement — the Holy Spirit perfects you in His time; your role is to yield, not to manufacture holiness.
- Prophecy comes to contradict circumstances, not confirm them — the prophetic word God speaks over you will always stand against what is naturally possible, just as it did for Sarah.
Reflection Questions
- In what areas of your life have you been trying to earn God's love or qualify yourself before Him — and what would it look like to stop and simply surrender?
- When weakness or failure arises in your life, do you run toward God or away from Him? What does your pattern reveal about how you truly understand His grace?
- The prodigal son's mistake ultimately led to his greatest promotion. Is there a mistake or season of failure in your life that you have not yet allowed God to redeem and turn into a testimony?
- Are you pursuing the experience of the Holy Spirit — genuine transformation and surrender — or have you settled for emotional performances and spiritual pretending? What would honest faith look like for you this week?
- God's gift over your life is without repentance — it will not be withdrawn. What specific promise has God spoken over you that you have doubted because of your circumstances or your weakness? What is one step you can take to re-align your faith with that promise?
Prayers and Declarations
"Look at your neighbor say you are not your body. You are not your body."
Rise up and pray:
"Father, I surrender myself to you. I realize that the only one who can perfect me is you. All Lord Jesus I surrender myself in your capable hands. You make all things beautiful in its time. Lord, I don't want to go ahead of my time. Perfect me according to your will. Do a mighty work within me."
Open your mouth and begin to pray. Lift your voice and pray. Pray like all depends on your prayer. Speak to God. Ask for His grace to rest on you. Ask for His power to rest on you.
"Father in the name of Jesus. Let me be the cause of deliverance. Let me be the cause of transformation. Let me be the cause of increase in my own family, in the name of Jesus."
