Unlocking the Power in Words
Unlocking the Power in Words · Part 1 of 3
True spiritual power comes not from positive thinking or scripture-quoting, but from knowing and operating in the language and culture of the Kingdom of Heaven.
The power of your words is not released by speaking positively or quoting scripture in isolation — it flows from understanding and operating in the spiritual language of the Kingdom of God. Just as citizens of any nation must adopt its culture to access its benefits, citizens of heaven must learn heaven's constitution, mannerisms, and language to walk in genuine authority.
Teaching Overview
- The measure of love for God is the desire to know Him — you cannot love what you do not know.
- Life and death are in the power of language, not the physical tongue — and most believers have misunderstood this truth.
- Praying in tongues and praying in the spirit are not the same thing — God responds to the faith within words, not the words themselves.
- Working miracles is distinct from praying — it involves shifting something in the spirit through a specific act and a life lived in alignment with heaven.
- There is a culture of the Kingdom of God, and only those who know and live that culture can access the power that comes with it.
Key Distinctions
| Believing | Loving | |
|---|---|---|
| What it requires | Mental assent to God's existence | Desire to know God and act accordingly |
| Who else does it | Even the devil believes in God | Love is exclusively a human-to-God covenant response |
| Its nature | A position or stance | A decision backed by action |
| What it produces | Nothing on its own | Fruit — actions that spread and magnify God's love |
| Its limitation | Can be held without relationship | Cannot exist without knowledge of who you love |
| Praying in Tongues | Praying in the Spirit | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | One specific form of spiritual prayer | A broader category of spirit-directed communication |
| Scope | Narrow — a particular gift | Wide — includes any prayer spoken in genuine faith |

|---|---|---|
| Source | Natural mind and emotion | The culture and life of the Kingdom of God |
| Effect on the spirit realm | None — produces no life | Produces life or death in the spirit |
| What drives it | Optimism or willpower | Faith, alignment with heaven's constitution, lived holiness |
| Who can access it | Anyone | Citizens of heaven who know and live the culture |
| Scriptural example | Absent | God speaking creation into existence; Jesus at Cana |
| Natural / Human Language | Spiritual Language | |
|---|---|---|

| Prayer | Working Miracles | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Petitioning God for an outcome | Directly shifting something in the spirit through authority |

| Dependency | On God's response | On the believer's authority and spiritual alignment |
| Requires | Faith and relationship | Understanding of the language and culture of the spirit |
| Citizens of Heaven | Citizens of Darkness | |
|---|---|---|
| Their constitution | Heaven's — holiness, sacrifice, love, direct access to God | The kingdom of darkness — deception, theft, destruction |
| How they are identified | By their fruit — mannerisms, behavior, access to God | By their fruit — inability to hear God, reliance on counterfeit power |
| Source of power | Authority from above | Juju, familiar spirits, counterfeit signs |
| Their response to miracles | Recognise God's power immediately | Attribute genuine miracles to juju or familiar spirits |
| What shapes their words | Kingdom culture and the language of the spirit | The kingdom of darkness and its culture |

| What it produces | Life, healing, authority, miracles | Spiritual blindness, vulnerability, counterfeit power |
| Its language | The spiritual language God used to create; the language of angels | Juju, curses, manipulation |
| Effect on the believer | Empowers words and actions in the spirit | Causes the believer to mistake God's power for the occult |
The Measure of Love Is Knowledge
- You cannot love what you do not know — love requires complete connection and full knowledge of the person.
- God's love for humanity is a decision, not a feeling — He chose to accept humanity despite every error and failure.
- Many believers have a limited love for God because they do not understand that loving God means pursuing knowledge of Him.
"Love is a decision, love is not a feeling, love is not emotions."
Love Demonstrated Through Action
- Saying "I believe in God" carries no spiritual weight on its own — even the devil believes in God and fears Him more than most believers do.
- Love is a verb — it requires action that follows the declaration.
- The question is not whether you believe in God, but whether your actions demonstrate love toward Him.
"Even the devil believes in God and actually fears him more than you do."
Life and Death Are in the Power of Language
- The Hebrew word translated as "tongue" in Proverbs 18:21 is Lashon, which means language — not the physical organ.
- Life and death are in the power of language, not in positive declarations made with the mouth.
- Making positive statements does not produce supernatural power — there is a specific language that, when spoken, produces life or death.
"98% of people have interpreted this verse wrong. The tongue itself is not what the Bible is saying. The Bible is saying that life and death are in the power of the language."
God's Language Produces Life
- God speaks yet does not possess a literal tongue — He is Spirit, and His language is spiritual.
- The language God used in Genesis 1 is the language that produced creation — and that same language can produce death.
- The question is not what God said, but what language He was operating in when He said it.
"What language was God speaking? That is the language that produces life."
Scripture-Quoting Without Power Produces Nothing
- Many Christians quote scripture faithfully yet produce no life — because the power is not in the words themselves but in the language operating behind them.
- Those who wrote scripture tapped into a dimension where their words became God's words — they were not writing first, they were speaking and acting, and it was recorded.
- The Christian faith is not dependent on scripture — the faith came before the scriptures; the scriptures are the fruit of the faith.
"They tapped into a dimension that their words became God's words."
Praying in Tongues and Praying in the Spirit Are Not the Same
- Praying in tongues is one form of praying in the spirit — but there are many ways to pray in the spirit.
- Anyone who prays in genuine faith is praying in the spirit, even while speaking human words.
- God does not respond to words — He responds to the faith within the words.
"God doesn't respond to your words. God responds to the faith within your words."
Working Miracles Is Distinct from Prayer
- Elijah stopped rain by commanding it — this was not prayer, it was the exercise of authority.
- When Elijah wanted rain to return, he travailed and sent his servant to check the horizon — he was working a miracle, shifting something in the spirit.
- Jesus at the Wedding of Cana was not praying over the water — He was speaking a language that was causing transformation, calling the water something else before it became it.
"He was working something. He was speaking a language that was causing the water to change."
Authority Over Creation Requires Understanding the Language of the Spirit
- Moses was rebuked by God when he prayed at the Red Sea — God told him to stretch his staff and command the water, not to petition.
- Jesus commanded the storm and it obeyed — this was authority, not request.
- There is an act that must accompany the word for creation to obey — this is what it means to work a miracle.
"There was an act that he had to do for the water to obey him."
The Culture of the Kingdom of God
- The Kingdom of God has a distinct culture — and anyone who does not know that culture will fail to access the power that comes with kingdom citizenship.
- Citizens of heaven must learn heaven's constitution, mannerisms, and behavior in order to reap the benefits of heaven.
- Your behavior and language reveal which kingdom you actually belong to — all true citizens of heaven share the same mannerisms and constitution.
"There is a culture of the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God has a culture. And anybody that does not know that culture will fall short of acquiring the power that comes with the kingdom."
Spiritual Blindness from Living Outside Heaven
- Spending too much time in the kingdom of darkness causes a believer to interpret genuine heavenly power as juju or occult activity.
- When the first response to a miracle is suspicion rather than recognition of God, it reveals where the believer's treasure has been stored.
- You cannot claim to know who you are as a citizen of heaven if you do not know the culture of heaven.
"Because you have spent too much time in the kingdom of darkness that you only understand power to be from juju, not from heaven."
Language Is Culture
- Language is more than vocabulary — language is an expression of culture and belonging.
- Demons take advantage of believers who speak like foreigners to heaven — they know when a person does not truly know their kingdom's culture.
- Connecting to the culture of heaven is what empowers the language of the spirit.
"Language is more than words. Language is a culture."
Key Definitions
Lashon — The Hebrew word translated as "tongue" in Proverbs 18:21, meaning language — not the physical organ. Life and death are in the power of the language, not the tongue.
Spiritual Language — The language of the Kingdom of God that, when operated in correctly, produces life or death in the spirit realm; it is distinct from positive speech and requires a specific life lived in alignment with heaven's culture.
Working a Miracle — Directly shifting something in the spirit through authority and a specific act, distinct from petitioning God in prayer; demonstrated by Elijah commanding rain to stop and Moses stretching his staff over the sea.
Praying in the Spirit — A broad category of spirit-directed communication that includes any prayer spoken in genuine faith, of which praying in tongues is only one form.
The Culture of the Kingdom — The constitution, mannerisms, and behaviour of heaven that citizens of heaven must learn and live in order to access the power and benefits that come with kingdom citizenship.
Body Language — A universal language spoken through the physical body, understood across linguistic barriers; used to illustrate that spirit beings, like physical bodies, operate in a language of their own that transcends spoken human words.
Key Takeaways
- Love for God is measured by the desire to know Him — you cannot claim to love God while making no effort to know Him, because you cannot love what you do not know.
- Life and death are in the power of language, not positive confession — understanding which language to speak, and how to operate in it, is what determines whether your words produce life.
- God responds to the faith within your words, not the words themselves — this is why scripture-quoting without alignment to the culture of heaven produces no spiritual fruit.
- Working miracles is not the same as praying — authority over creation requires understanding the spiritual act that must accompany the word, not merely petitioning God for an outcome.
- Knowing the culture of the Kingdom of Heaven is what empowers your words — citizenship in heaven only produces its benefits when you live according to heaven's constitution and mannerisms.
Reflection Questions
- If the measure of your love for God is how much of Him you want to know — what does your current pursuit of knowing God say about your love for Him?
- You have quoted scripture, spoken positively, and prayed — but have you seen life produced? What would need to change in how you live for your words to carry genuine spiritual authority?
- In what areas of your life are you still responding to God's power with the logic of the kingdom of darkness — attributing miracles to manipulation, coincidence, or counterfeit sources?
- What does your daily behaviour, vocabulary, and conduct reveal about which kingdom's culture you have been absorbing most?
- What specific step can you take this week to begin learning and living the culture of the Kingdom of Heaven — not just quoting its words?
