Walking with Angels: The Reality of Angelic Ministry and How It Is Activated
Angels are not a universal birthright — they are assigned ministers sent by God to those called to carry salvation.
Angelic ministry is real, scripturally grounded, and active in the lives of those God has specifically called and appointed. Yet most believers are operating under profound deception about who has angels, how they are activated, and what they actually do. Understanding the truth about ministering spirits — and clearing away the lies — is the gateway to walking in everything God has prepared for you.
Teaching Overview
- You are lied to. If you don't get rid of the lie, you don't get deliverance.
- The number one lie you are told, error, is every one of you were born with an angel — lie.
Key Distinctions
| Angels | Demons | Holy Spirit | Gabriel | Michael | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nature | Ministering spirits sent from God to serve those called to salvation | Fallen spirits that oppose God's purposes and can be resisted or cast out | God Himself, present in every believer | A chief angel (prince of heaven) sent to bring divine revelation and explanation | A chief angel described as the weapon of God, sent for warfare and enforcement |
| Who they work with | Those with specific divine assignments, not all believers | Anyone not operating under proper spiritual authority | All born-again believers | Specific individuals at appointed times — Daniel, Mary, Joseph | Called in when angelic opposition cannot be broken alone |
| Can they be resisted? | Gabriel was resisted for 21 days by the prince of the power of the air | Can resist angelic ministry until a stronger force intervenes | Not resisted in the same way — God is sovereign | Yes — held back by demonic princes until Michael intervened | No recorded instance of Michael being held back — he is the enforcer |
| Are they permanent? | Some are assigned; others come and go for specific purposes | Not assigned — they operate wherever authority is absent | Permanent in the believer | Not permanent with any individual — came, spoke, and left | Not permanently stationed with individuals — deployed for warfare |
| Assignment basis | Activated by divine calling and assignment, not mere belief | Exploit gaps created by operating outside divine authority | Given at the new birth to every believer | Sent to bring understanding of what God has revealed | Sent to fight what other angels cannot break through alone |
The Deception That Blocks Angelic Ministry
- Believers are walking in assumption rather than fact — and assumption prevents access to what God has actually prepared.
- The lie that every believer is automatically born with an angel has left the church powerless and unable to discern what they do and do not carry.
- Until the lie is removed, deliverance and access to true angelic ministry cannot come.
"You are lied to. If you don't get rid of the lie, you don't get deliverance."
What Angelic Ministry Actually Is
- The word "minister" means to serve — angels are serving spirits sent to serve those who will be heirs of salvation, those specifically anointed by God to save souls.
- Angelic ministry is not a spiritual bonus — it is a divine infrastructure that makes God's appointed work possible.
- Angels carry out the purposes of God in ways that the Holy Spirit, being God, does not directly involve Himself in — because there are things that are too great a task for God to descend and personally handle.
"Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve those who will inherit salvation?"
"There are things that angels do in order to carry out the purpose of God."
How Angelic Ministry Is Activated
- Jesus Himself did not have angels ministering to Him until He was thirty years old — after the wilderness temptation — which means angelic ministry is not automatic even for the Son of God.
- The Holy Spirit leading Jesus into the wilderness was distinct from angelic ministry — angels were not yet present, which is why Satan used that very fact as a temptation.
- Angelic ministry is opened at an appointed time, aligned with the activation of a person's divine assignment.
"If you are a believer, you have the Holy Ghost. It doesn't mean you have angels."
"It was the first time that the ministry of angels met the ministry of Jesus."
Gabriel and Michael: Distinct Angelic Functions
- Gabriel is among the seven chief angels — princes of heaven — and his role is revelation and explanation, bringing understanding of what God has shown His servants.
- Gabriel is not permanently assigned to any individual — he came, delivered the message, and left, serving multiple servants of God across both testaments.
- Michael is the weapon of God — deployed in warfare when angelic opposition cannot be broken through, as seen when he came to Gabriel's aid against the prince of Persia.
"Michael, who is the weapon of God, I call him the weapon of God, the weapon of mass destruction."
The Danger of Acting Without Angelic Coverage
- Many believers have harmed themselves spiritually by attempting to cast out demons, lay hands on people, and engage in spiritual warfare without being sent and without knowing who is with them.
- Angels provide a security detail — when you step outside your assignment, that covering is removed and you are exposed.
- Even in heaven, it was not the Holy Spirit who cast Satan out — it was Michael and his army, because God does not descend to personally fight what He has assigned angels to handle.
"This is the most dangerous thing you could ever do. Because when it comes to demons, if angels are not with you, you are in big trouble because you can't fight them."
Teaching by the Spirit vs. Teaching by Study
- The ability to teach fresh revelation every day without recycling messages is not a product of extensive academic study — it is the fruit of supernatural assistance and angelic aid in ministry.
- Just as Gabriel came to Daniel to explain what God had shown him, God sends ministers to help His servants understand and communicate what has been given to them.
- Those who teach things not given to them by assignment will ruin the people they teach — anointing and assignment are inseparable.
"My understanding of scripture is not because I am the most studied. It is because I am helped to understand what God has given me to teach."
"I don't teach by study. I teach by the Spirit."
Key Definitions
Ministering spirits — Angelic beings sent by God specifically to serve those who are heirs of salvation — meaning those divinely assigned to carry the gospel and save souls.
Angelic ministry — The active, operational assistance of angels in the life and work of a called servant of God, distinct from the ministry of the Holy Spirit, and activated at an appointed time aligned with divine assignment.
Gabriel — A chief angel (prince of heaven) whose function is revelation — sent to bring understanding, explanation, and direction to specific servants of God at appointed moments, but never permanently stationed with any individual.
Michael — A chief angel described as the weapon of God; deployed in spiritual warfare when opposition cannot be broken by other angelic forces alone.
Born prophet — A prophet whose prophetic calling was established by God before birth, distinct from those who operate in the prophetic through a spiritual gift, the laying on of hands, or an impartation.
He shall give — A future-tense promise in Psalms 91:11, indicating that angelic charge over a person's life is something God intends to do — but it has not yet been activated for most believers, making it a covenant yet to be accessed rather than a possession already held.
Key Takeaways
- Angelic ministry is not universal — it is assignment-based — Assuming every believer automatically has angels leads to operating without the coverage God has actually prepared, leaving people exposed in spiritual warfare.
- The lie must be removed before deliverance can come — Deception is the primary barrier to accessing what God has made available; truth is not just theological clarity, it is the door to spiritual reality.
- Angels are activated at an appointed time, not at salvation — Even Jesus did not have angels in active ministry until He was thirty, which means spiritual maturity and divine timing govern when this dimension is opened.
- Different angels carry different assignments — Gabriel brings revelation; Michael brings warfare; others provide protection and physical intervention — discerning which is present and active is part of walking in the fullness of prophetic ministry.
- Operating without proper authority in spiritual warfare is dangerous — Without angelic covering, engaging demonic forces is not faith — it is exposure, and the consequences are real.
Reflection Questions
- Have you been living under the assumption that angels are automatically with you simply because you are saved? How does the truth of this teaching challenge the way you have been engaging in prayer and spiritual warfare?
- Jesus waited thirty years before angelic ministry was opened to Him. Are there areas of your life or ministry where you have been rushing ahead of God's timing rather than waiting for what He is yet to open?
- When you encounter spiritual opposition, are you operating from a place of clear divine assignment — or are you stepping into territory you were not sent into? What evidence can you point to?
- If your teaching, your ministry, or your spiritual life reflects what you have studied more than what you have received by the Spirit, what does that reveal about where you are drawing from — and what needs to change?
- What specific lie about your spiritual covering have you been walking under, and what is one concrete step you can take this week to replace that lie with the truth of Scripture?
Prayers and Declarations
Opening prayer before teaching:
"Father we thank you in the name of your son Jesus for this powerful morning. Thank you that we are in the seventh month of the year. You have brought us this far and we know that you are taking us farther. All Lord have mercy on us, forgive us of every sin, cleanse us, purify us, cause us to see your glory again. Thank you that you do not look at the multitude of our sins but you look at us through the eyes of your son Jesus. Father glorify yourself amongst us. Continue to put us on the path of life and the path of righteousness that we may know you as you are. Father remove every blindness from our eyes and every hardness of our heart. We want to know your spirit. We want to know you. We want to draw close to you. Father show yourself unto us today. Through every situation. Through every situation. Whatever your people are going through. Show yourself, show yourself Lord. In Jesus name. In Jesus name."
Prayer instruction — congregation led to pray aloud:
"Say Father, by your mighty hand, touch my mind, touch my soul, that I may understand your truth, that I may live the life that you have ordained for me. The entrance of thy word giveth light and gives understanding to the simple. Lord, I want more understanding that I may walk with you, that I may know you. In Jesus' name."
Declaration of protection spoken over the congregation:
"I declare angelic protection over you in the name of Jesus."
