Weapons of Warfare: Understanding Dominion, Territory, and Spiritual Authority
Weapons Of Warfare · Part 1 of 2
Spiritual warfare cannot be won through authority and power alone — dominion over territory is the legal foundation that makes all authority functional.
Spiritual warfare is not simply a matter of declaring authority or invoking power. God gave man dominion before He gave man authority and power — and without dominion over a territory, all declarations are legally void. Understanding the three domains of dominion — sea, land, and air — is the difference between a believer who wins in warfare and one who is continuously overcome.
Teaching Overview
- Spiritual warfare requires knowledge of specific weapons — ignorance renders believers powerless regardless of intent.
- Dominion is the legal foundation of all authority and power — without a domain, a believer has no legal right to exercise either.
- God assigned man dominion over three distinct territories: the sea, the land, and the air — and whoever controls the air controls everything beneath it.
- The devil operates from a stolen domain — the garden — and controls earthly kingdoms from a spiritual dimension through the air.
- Believers seated with Christ in heavenly places are positioned above the air where principalities operate, giving them legal authority to bind, cast down, and destroy demonic forces beneath them.
Key Distinctions
| Authority | Power | Dominion | |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | The legal right to act or command | The force or ability to carry out a command | A domain — a specific territory over which one rules |
| When it applies | Within a defined jurisdiction | Within a defined jurisdiction | Wherever the territory belongs to the one who holds it |
| Foundation | Flows from dominion | Flows from dominion | The primary attribute — must exist first |
| Without the other | Authority without dominion is legally void | Power without dominion has nothing to act on | Dominion without authority and power cannot be enforced |
| What happens when lost | Declarations become empty | Spiritual warfare fails | The enemy occupies and controls unchallenged |
| Biblical example | Jesus giving believers the right to cast out demons | The believer executing deliverance | God giving Adam dominion over sea, land, and air |
| Power | Corruption | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Competent force that fulfills purpose within a domain | Force exercised outside of rightful dominion |
| Has purpose | Yes — it accomplishes something within a domain | No — it is incompetence masquerading as strength |
| Example | God ordering creation within His domain | A husband beating his wife; a slaveholder over another human |
| Spiritual Dimension | Natural Dimension | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | An invisible realm operating behind physical reality | The visible, physical world of matter and space |
| Garden of Eden | The garden is a spiritual dimension — a portal | The ground outside the garden where Adam was sent to till |
| Accessible how | Through portals and spiritual gateways | Through physical movement in the natural world |
| Findable by man | No — no one can locate the garden of Eden in the natural | Yes — the ground Adam was driven to is the earth we inhabit |
| Heavenly Places | The Air (Demonic Realm) | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it sits | Above every other dimension — the border between heaven and earth | Between the physical earth and heavenly places |
| Who occupies it | Believers seated with Christ Jesus | Principalities, powers, and fallen spiritual rulers |
| Positional advantage | Far above principalities and powers | Below the position of the believer in Christ |
| Function | Controls what comes from heaven to earth | Governs evil spirits operating on the ground |
| Jurisdiction | Territory | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | The legal boundary of authority | The physical or spiritual domain over which dominion is exercised |
| Example | An NYPD officer has no jurisdiction in Los Angeles | The sea, the land, and the air are each distinct territories |
| Without the other | Jurisdiction without territory cannot be enforced | Territory without jurisdiction can be occupied by a stronger force |
| Consequence of loss | Authority becomes invalid — the believer is a spiritual foreigner | The enemy takes dominion and governs from that location |
The Function of the Prophetic
- It is God's will that every believer — evangelist, pastor, teacher, or apostle — function in the prophetic.
- The prophetic is the revealer of things hidden in the heavenly realm that no scripture verse addresses directly.
- Being led by the Holy Spirit is what qualifies a person as a son of God, according to scripture.
"My desire is that you grow into a place where you are led by the Holy Spirit, where you can know His voice, you will know His still small voice, where He wants you to go, where He wants you to step, so that many people will be blessed because of you."
The Problem of Ignorance in Spiritual Warfare
- Believers cannot wage spiritual warfare without knowing what their weapons are — intent to fight is not the same as capacity to win.
- The reason demons continue to afflict God's people is not God's inability — it is the believer's lack of knowledge.
- Good intentions to destroy the devil's works do not automatically confer the power to do so.
"If the devil is whooping you there's something that you don't know. You are intent to kill the devil or to destroy his works. It doesn't mean you have the power to do it."
The Legal Nature of Spiritual Warfare
- Spiritual warfare is entirely a matter of legal ground — it is not automatic, emotional, or merely declarative.
- Authority and power are legal terms; they only function within the domain in which they are legally granted.
- Words do not carry power everywhere — they only carry power within the domain where one holds legal standing.
"Every spiritual thing has to do with legality. It's a legal ground thing. It's not an automatic thing. It's a legal ground thing."
Dominion: The Foundation of All Authority and Power
- God did not begin by giving man authority and power — He gave man dominion first.
- Dominion is a domain — a specific territory over which one holds control; without it, authority and power are inoperative.
- Dominion is the first attribute of God: He controls everything because everything exists within His kingdom and operates under His rules.
"Unless you have a domain, you are not powerful. Nobody that does not have a domain has no power. You have zero power."
Adam, the Garden, and the Stolen Domain
- The devil entered the garden before Adam and was never evicted — Adam held dominion but never acted on it.
- When Adam and Eve sinned, God drove them out of the garden but the devil — already in the garden as a spiritual being — was not evicted from that domain.
- The Cherubim placed at the east of the Garden was guarding a portal — a gateway into a spiritual dimension — not merely a geographical location.
"The person who should have put Satan out of planet Earth was Adam. But the guy was never served an eviction."
The Garden as a Spiritual Command Station
- The garden was not a natural location but a spiritual dimension — this is why no one can find it in the natural world.
- Adam was designed to govern the entire earth from the garden as a command station — entering the natural realm to act and returning to the garden to govern.
- The angel is not guarding the garden — the angel is guarding the tree, which is the access point to that spiritual dimension.
"He was like a command station. There was going to control everything outside."
The Devil's Control of Earthly Kingdoms
- The devil's offer of all earthly kingdoms to Jesus was not a bluff — he controls them from a stolen spiritual domain.
- When the devil showed Jesus all the kingdoms of the earth from a high point, he opened a spiritual portal from which all kingdoms could be seen.
- The only domain legally assigned to the devil was hell — everything else he controls is occupying stolen territory.
"He opened up a portal, pulled him in and said, look at all these kingdoms of the world. I can give it to you if you worship me."
The Three Domains of Human Dominion
- God gave man dominion over three distinct territories: the fish of the sea (the seas), the fowl of the air (the air), and the cattle and all the earth (the land).
- Controlling the fowl of the air means controlling the air itself — dominion over the air is a legal right belonging to man.
- Without control of all three territories, a believer is spiritually a foreigner — an outsider in territory that legally belongs to them.
"Our jurisdiction is broken up into three parts. The seas, the land, and the air. So if you have no control of the sea, the land and the air, you do not have power in that jurisdiction."
The Air: Demonic Control and Spiritual Paralysis
- Fallen angelic beings — the Nephilim spirits — control the earth from the air, directing evil spirits operating on the ground.
- Demonic forces governing from the air give instructions to spirits on the ground — they govern from above, not from below.
- A believer who takes dominion over the air automatically paralyzes the evil spirits on the ground, because those spirits do not operate independently of their rulers.
"If you have power over the air, you've automatically paralyzed even the evil spirits, because they don't work independent from their fathers."
Seated Above in Heavenly Places
- Believers are seated with Christ Jesus in heavenly places — a position that is spiritually higher than the air where principalities operate.
- Because principalities and powers are positionally beneath the believer, they can be seen, bound, cast down, and destroyed.
- Heaven is not directionally "up" in a natural sense — it is a dimension that sits above every other spiritual dimension, including the demonic air realm.
"We are sitting in heavenly places. We can see their plans because they're under us. We can destroy them because they're under us. We can cast them down because they're under us."
Key Definitions
Dominion — A domain; a specific territory over which one holds legal control and governance. It is the legal foundation from which authority and power become operative.
Authority — A legal right to act or command within a defined jurisdiction; without dominion, authority has no legal standing.
Power — The competent force to fulfill purpose within a domain. As Prophet Lovy stated: "Power is competent. Power has purpose. It fulfills something within a domain."
Corruption — Force exercised outside of rightful dominion — not power, but incompetence. "When a husband is beating his wife or a wife is insulting a husband, that is not power, that is corruption."
Heavenly Places — The dimension at the border between heaven and earth where believers are seated with Christ, positioned above principalities and powers in the air.
Portal — A gateway between the natural dimension and a spiritual dimension; the angel at the east of Eden was guarding a portal, not a geographical location.
Jurisdiction — The legal boundary within which authority is valid and enforceable; outside of jurisdiction, authority — however legitimate — cannot be exercised.
Key Takeaways
- Dominion precedes authority and power — God assigned dominion before He assigned authority and power, meaning dominion is the legal foundation without which all spiritual declarations are void.
- The three territories of sea, land, and air are man's assigned domains — A believer who does not exercise dominion over all three is spiritually a foreigner in territory that legally belongs to them.
- Control of the air is the key to paralyzing ground-level demonic activity — Fallen rulers govern evil spirits from the air; binding the air-level forces automatically cripples everything they direct beneath them.
- The devil operates from a domain he was never legally evicted from — Adam's failure to evict the enemy gave demonic forces an unchallenged base of operations that has governed the earth ever since.
- Believers are positionally above principalities because heavenly places is higher than the demonic air realm — This position is not aspirational — it is the legal reality of being seated with Christ, and it is from this position that warfare is won.
Reflection Questions
- In your spiritual life, have you been declaring authority and power without first establishing dominion — and what territory has the enemy been occupying unchallenged as a result?
- Which of the three domains — sea, land, or air — have you never consciously addressed in your prayer and spiritual warfare, and what might that neglect have cost you?
- Adam had dominion but never exercised it to evict the enemy. In what areas of your life have you held legal authority from God but never acted on it?
- The devil's control of earthly kingdoms comes from occupying a stolen spiritual domain. What "gardens" — areas of influence, family, calling, territory — have you allowed the enemy to occupy by default?
- If you truly believed you were seated with Christ above every principality and power — higher than every demonic ruler in the air — what would you do differently in your prayers, declarations, and spiritual warfare this week?
Prayers and Declarations
"My prayer is that you will be one of those that will be baptized in the prophetic, and your life will never be the same. I pray for you in the name of Jesus, that the Lord will touch you wherever you are. I pray that the Sulama anointing shall come upon you as you listen to this prayer. I pray that your spiritual ears and your spiritual eyes and your spiritual understanding shall be unlocked this day. I pray that the mysteries of Jehovah God shall be released unto you. I pray that you may know His power, that you may know His love, that you may know His might in your life this day. I pray in the name of the Lord Jesus. May what was impossible become possible now. I pray that my encounters with the Lord will become your encounters. I pray that every single angelic visitation that I've experienced may the Lord favor you today. May the Lord give you the grace to see the things that I have seen and beyond. I unlock you in the prophetic today. I release the Sulama anointing upon you today. May angels ascend and descend upon you in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus. May the Lord be glorified through your life. May the world know that Jesus is alive by reason of Him manifesting Himself through you. I decree as a prophet of God: There will be a difference from this day. When you stand before people, when you pray, there will be a change. There are people who will know that the Holy Spirit is upon you and the anointing to do the work of God, to be a shield for your family, to be a defender of your family. Let it be so now, in Jesus' mighty name."
